The Summit School is a small, specialized high school for students with a wide variety of emotional needs. We offer a college preparatory Regents level course of study and a remedial program to a wide range of students who require an alternative to the traditional high school setting. Summit students are provided with significant support services aimed at modification of their academic deficits and emotional issues.
School staff members and administrators encourage students to take the most demanding course of study appropriate to the individual. Academic situations often prove stressful to adolescents, particularly those with emotional issues. As such, our classes are small, personalized and supportive. Students are scheduled for individual and group psychotherapy as part of their regular program. Summit School offers a wide variety of out of class support, including resource rooms, tutoring services, and access to the library/computer media center.
The ability to form and maintain adult and peer relationships is a significant part of our school program. Our goal is to provide opportunities for changes in behavior, learning style, and overall outlook. We look to enable students to have the greatest number of options when postgraduate plans are considered.
