Over the years, Summit has developed specialized treatment approaches which have proven successful with particularly vexing psychiatric conditions present in many troubled adolescents. For example, our program for those with eating disorders can provide a cost effective alternative to expensive and restrictive long term hospital care. While being treated for the disorder, the student is simultaneously offered an intensive and coordinated treatment experience unavailable through outpatient psychotherapy.
Similarly, Summit's work with children with Asperger's Syndrome has allowed many youngsters to emerge from social isolation and become responsible for their own success. Our Pragmatics Program has provided a safe and caring haven for fragile adolescents, some of whom have Pervasive Developmental Disorder and Asperger's Disorder. These youngsters are offered the opportunity to develop the social skills and self confidence needed for their successful transition to young adulthood.
