Frequent home visits are built into the schedule at Summit. Home visits are scheduled roughly every other weekend, with longer visits corresponding to public school holidays.
Home visits are not intended be a vacation from treatment, but rather as treatment in a more natural setting. Therefore, eligibility for home visits is not contingent on the child's behavior at Summit. All children are eligible for all home visits.
Either the family or the child may refuse to take a home visit.ÊIn such a case, the child remains at Summit. We never close; there are always staff here, and the program is always in operation.
The social worker arranges all home visits. He or she will keep the family informed about the child's progress at Summit, and what to expect from the home visits.ÊNo later than the middle of the week prior to a scheduled home visit, the family should contact the social worker to confirm or cancel the visit.ÊNo child will be released to travel home without confirmation from his or her parent or legal guardian.
We do not permit children to travel with medication.ÊIf your child takes daily medication, please call the infirmary before a home visit to make arrangements for a continued supply.
